FAQs
Q: How did you come up with the idea for The Thirst Inside?
A: To tell the truth, I'm not really sure. My sixth grade English teacher, Ms. Steinen, had our class write on a Wiki. My friends Julia and Valentine had started stories, so I decided that I wanted to write one too. For no particular reason, a girl finding out that she was a vampire was the first thing that came to mind … never did I guess that the little story would one day be completely revamped (no pun intended) and published!
Q: How long did it take you to write your books?
A: I wrote most of The Thirst Inside during November 2011 (Young Writers' Program of National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo YWP), and I published it in June 2012. I started Night Crawlers in July 2012 and published it in February 2013. The Flame at the End of the Passage I started soon after this, and published it in the beginning of October 2013. I wrote part of What Remains of White Sands by once again participating in NaNoWriMo—seems fitting to begin and end with it, no? This book took the longest by far; I started as soon as I finished the third, but because of high school—AP classes, extracurriculars, my social life, and relaxation time, and all that—it took until June 2017 to get it published. However, I'm proud to say I finished my series before I finished high school!
Q: Are you still writing?
A: Yes! I recently finished a novella called The Stone and the Sword, a retelling of Arthurian legends. I have many more story ideas I'd like to see come to light as well!
Q: How did you publish your books?
A: Why, using the amazing Createspace, of course! https://www.createspace.com/
Q: How old were you when you wrote The Thirst Inside?
A: I wrote the version of The Thirst Inside that you know and love at thirteen.
Q: Which of the books is you favorite?
A: Aaah, I don't know! Definitely not the first one. I've grown so much since writing TTI that it's almost painful for me to read. The second one I love, but the third I get so much more excited about! Plus, FATE has more of a flowing plot. But three is so different stylistically that it's hard to compare. And, of course, I love my fourth one because it's probably the best written. So really, I don't know.
Q: Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?
A: Please use correct grammar and punctuation! Use lots of description, and write what you know or imagine. Most importantly, always believe in yourself!
